Pulling off a Mariah
[Skirt : Zara][Top : Romwe, c/o Catsuit-latex][Sunglasses : H&M][Clutch : Zara][Shoes : Local Store][
Now that we've tackled basic staples 101 in my previous post, I'm all geared up to preach the essence of prints and color matching. Not!
Of course I jest - this isn't a fashion class. Though you can say I quite hit the mark on two ends of the spectrum, being dressed oh-so-casually for meet-ups and errands one day, and then all business-like chic the next just to hit the grocery store. Indeed this was what I wore to grab my weekly stock of fruits and yogurt and back home. Talk about overdressed. Next thing you know I'm pulling off a Mariah Carey - like I can totally afford a Versace dress to don in the subway and a fishtail red carpet dress to play at the park. Yeah, right.
But jokes aside.
There isn't ever a universal rule against overdressing, is there? Because then many style blogs would cease to exist. Should it be a crime and we're all facing prosecution. Because surely we've all been overdressed at one point - and you have to admit there's a certain goodness per se, because despite the embarrassment, onlookers tend to think you're a bit more interesting and sometimes even important. But is it never not allowed? I think not. As far as this blog is concerned, I think we can all choose to dress up or down whenever we want, in the same way we are entitled to dress up in anyway we want, even if it's just to run down to the nearest 7/11 store for a quick sweet fix.
Agree or not, let me now.
But now it's time I dress down for bed.
Goodnight!
I don't think there's anything wrong with over dressing - who's to say you shouldn't wear something that makes you feel fabulous for even casual occasions? ;)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is gorgeous, I LOVE the sleeveless shirt! The collar tips give it such a cool edge.

DeleteAgreed! Even when I feel I look fairly casual, it's pretty dressed up for where I live and I feel awkward. But whatever, I like what I wear, and it usually draws comments from people who might never have stopped to talk to me otherwise.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you look chic and fabulous! Love the pointed toe shoes and the mix of green and blue in this outfit <3

Lol so true many style blogs would not exist if there was a rule again overdressing. Love that you wore this to go get groceries, why should we have to save our nice clothes for only special occasions. You skirt is stunning and I love your pairing with the green top.

right? nice clothes should be worn anytime. thanks Sarah! xo
DeleteGorgeous outfit! Something as mundane as grocery shopping deserves a bit of dressing up in my opinion :)!
ReplyDeleteand i agree with your opinion! thank you! xo
DeleteIt's an inevitable side effect of this strange fashion blogging world that you find yourself overdressed more often than not... but then, would any of us be doing this if we weren't always that person who'd made too much effort on a daily basis, anyway?! Why save everything nice for best, I say, when you could look amazing today! I love the colours of this outfit, very classy. CC
ReplyDeletewell said!! thanks so much Cici! xo

I love this outfit so much! The colors look great on you. And I totally agree with you-I am always overdressed but there are days when I want to rock a skirt or a dress. Where else would I be able to do that if the only place I can go is the grocery store or school?

You look fabulous in this outfit! I agree with you -- we are perfectly entitled to dress up or down whenever we feel like it. Growing up in Thailand, I'm afraid I'm one of those people who are ALWAYS overdressed lol. I'm telling you... People in Bangkok are always dressed up (they wear couture dresses and blazers and Hermes Birkins just to have breakfast at the nearest cafe lol and no, I'm not exaggerating. I know a group of people who do this every single day) and I guess I was influenced by the culture when I was growing up.
