Paris Visuals

Paris is a dream. Everything is just as beautiful as I imagined it would be and I feel so blessed to have been able to visit this romantic city with my love, Pierre. I won't lie, our first encounter wasn't so glamourous. Parisian Autumns aren't meant to be welcoming and when we arrived at Gare du Nord, we were bitterly greeted by a heavy drizzle, cold winds, and very slippery roads. I lost poise and all vision of how I should look like upon arriving in Paris having to drag my burdened suitcase along the wet alleys on the way to our AirBnB. It was all but graceful.

But the next day proved to be less drab. We headed straight for the Eiffel Tower of course, getting off at the Trocadéro metro station. If it's your first time visiting, I highly recommend getting off at this station - you are surely in for a dramatic entrance in viewing the famous tower. Trocadéro is situated in an elevated level you see; once you exit the metro station, you don't see the tower just yet as it's blocked by several buildings and museums. But once you reach Place du Trocadéro and turn to your left... surprise - you're greeted by the magnifique Tour Eiffel. Almost everyone, including ourselves, who turned the corner had the same facial and verbal reaction; "Oh wow"... smile... then just speechless. I was literally speechless that I even forgot I should be taking photos; selfies; instagrammable moments. But no, I was just there standing, staring, like it wasn't real. It was surreal.

We spent the whole morning of our first day there just being captivated by the surroundings; a dreamy morning in front of the Eiffel Tower with croissants and coffee in our hands. Hundreds of photos taken later, we were ready to walk towards Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées. 

I love that Paris is huge but walkable at the same time. Penguin and I made it a point to blend in as much as we could and do what locals would, including taking the metro and walking to literally everywhere. Funnily enough I think it worked since we had tourists asking us for directions. Ha, as if, right? Luckily we could provide the answers they needed and it felt so great.

We made our last stops at Grand Palais and  Pont Alexandre III before finally heading back to our AirBnB and calling it a day. Tiring but most definitely satisfying.
