LMV for H&M Studio AW17 Collection
Give a girl the dress of her dreams and she'll conquer the world. Well at least that's how I felt like wearing this sophisticated yet edgy dress from the H&M Studio AW17 collection.
I've been wanting to share this set of visuals with you all and finally I get to do so. In partnership with H&M, I got the pleasurable opportunity to style my favourite piece from the latest H&M Studio collection which of course, need I say it, is this gorgeous satin dress. It's one of the pieces that immediately caught my attention because I love a long dress (or skirt) with a high slit on the side, and the fact that it's versatile in a way that it can be styled elegantly or nonchalantly.
But like the rest of the pieces from the whole collection that drew inspiration from the creativity and energy New York city, each piece is a combination of street and sophistication thus making them wearable. The whole collection embodies what New York fashion is all about - dark palettes, strong tailoring on feminine silhouettes; charming yet edgy. Pieces are made out of unexpected combinations of various fabrics such as jacquards and stretch twill, creating more graphic structures that ultimately exude fearless attitude. These are pieces that makes a modern woman look and feel confident without putting too much effort.
My take on this dress (and the whole collection in general) is more on the streetstyle side of things with a side of old world glamour. I want to make a point that long satin dresses like this one in particular are not only worn on special occasions like suit-and-tie kind of parties but at the same time you can retain that feel. Taking into account that the collection drew inspiration from the city that never sleeps, I pictured the back alleys and broadway; glamorous concrete jungle.
The key is wearing the right accessories so I added the statement belt to emphasise my waistline. And of course white sneakers. I mean, what can be more low-key and street-ready than a not-so basic pair of white sneakers. Wore matching retro white sunglasses and finished off my look with a messy side-part curled hair for an edgier appeal.
A few other notable pieces that I'm eyeing from the collection are, the A-line mini-skirt in burgundy coated wool with contrast stitching and zipped slant pockets; and the Dark navy and strong blue padded jacket in wool and nylon contrast panels with high funnel neck collar that can be folded over. There's also a few other items that I particularly liked from the mens section including this coat with a panel-like belt.
I know it's a bit too early, for Macau at least, to be excited for fall but I already am because of this collection. To my dear Hong Kong and Macau viewers if you are excited as I am, the H&M Studio AW Collection will be available on September 14, at the H&M Store in Fashion Walk Causeway Bay and Canton Road Tsim Sha Tsui. But if you can't pay a quick visit to the store, that's alright as the collection will also be available at the recently launched H&M online store! Even better as there are Online Exclusive items from the collection which means you can only buy them online.
Mark the date and let's get shopping for your fall fashion staples, you guys!
