Playing Tourist in Taipa Village in a Maxi Dress Shirt
Ola, you guys! It's been a challenge for me to not shop while I'm not making any kind of steady income at the moment and where I stand, it's been almost three months. That's actually an achievement and shallow as it is, I am proud of myself for making it this far. The great thing about not shopping is that I am forced to dig my closet and re-discover items that's been almost forgotten. Lo and behold, I saw this long shirt-dress that does so well for photoshoots, the soonest it got sunny and warm enough to wear it out, I took the chance to style it with some of my go-to pieces and prance around in Taipa Village, tourist-like.
Also, I can't seem to ever stop taking photos around this area. I don't remember Taipa Village being so vibrant and lively before as it is now. Every week or so, there seems to be a new spot, a cafe, or a restaurant opening, cute ones might I add, and the little Portuguese buildings, despite looking run-down, are ever-becoming so colourful making for the perfect outfit photos backdrop. Sometimes, I do feel like a tourist in my own city. But oh well, I guess there's not shame in that, non?
Back to the outfit, obviously I centred the look around this shirt dress which a lot of people would think aren't versatile. That was my initial thought before I made the purchase on ASOS some years ago (yes, it's been with me for a while). But this goes to show that shirt dresses can be worn in many ways too, and they make for perfect a alternative to coats when you want to wear one but is too hot to. Here are several ways I styled this piece if you'd like to see more as shown on this post, this post, and this post.
While we're in the topic of re-discovering old pieces, I will be doing a new type of post sharing with you guys a couple of my favourite pieces and how to style them in some sort of outfit recap. It occurred to me that a lot of people think I have a bottomless closet, which I guess is almost true, but the truth is that the reason I always seem to have new clothes is because I buy separates that I can mix and match in many different ways. In fact, there are so many pieces from closet that's been overused and abused in case you haven't noticed, and those are the pieces that go with almost anything. One example is this skirt which I've had for a few years already (worn here, here, and here). So yes, expect several posts like that coming your way!
