Reminiscing Genting in Film

A few months back when I have just been in KL around a few weeks, my family came to visit and we stayed a few nights in Genting Highlands. I took these photos then when my brothers and I took a stroll around the premises of Resorts World, cruised through the arcades, and binged on Malaysian food.

Oh what I would do to see my family again soon. They are back in Macau, if you must know, thankfully all safe and healthy. The way the Macau government is handling this whole pandemic situation is very commendable and even though I used to always complain about Macau being small and boring and there's no room for growth and such, this is one of the rare times that I would say I'm happy to call it home. Frankly I'm not one who gets homesick easily. But being stuck in my apartment here in KL for nearly 3 weeks now, not that I'm complaining because yes  I recognise my being privileged to be able to stay home while others can't, I can't believe that I'm saying I'm feeling incredibly homesick at this point. It feels like it's been ages since I last saw my family and friends back home. 

The only thing that keeps me kind of sane at the moment is having Pierre around, thankfully; and getting creative juices flowing again with all these content catching up because indeed, I still do have a lot of image backlogs. 

I've also been trying to get back to uploading videos on youtube for the fun of it. Takes me back to my old room in Macau which isn't the case any longer since my family moved to a new place. Sighs. All these reminiscing.

Anyway, speaking of youtube, I did VLOG on the said visit to Genting Highlands so if you wanna watch it, scroll to the end of this post or head to my channel to watch by clicking here. 

 Genting Highlands is actually a hill located outside of KL, about an hour drive from where I live (an hour and half from the city give or take). My brothers and I got there from my place by grabcar which cost around 80RM. We then checked in to a hotel called Theme Park Hotel which is a part of the Resorts World Genting Complex. It's a family hotel and the room I booked for us was for a 6-pax family. It had 3 double/queen beds, 2 of which were part of a bunk. It's good value for money actually, that being it easily gets fully booked.

Now, you don't have to stay within the complex as there are plenty of Airbnb in the area. But Genting being a hill and all, it could be tricky to get around unless you drive. Or if you don't mind hailing grab service every single time you have to get from one place to another, then fine. Anyway we only planned to roam around the complex so we chose to stay in. But outside the complex, I hear there are plenty of other things to do such as strawberry picking, spa, and all. I personally haven't gone so I can't really recommend anything else other than shop, dine, and play in RWG.

But I can say this much, Genting can get pretty chilly specially at night. Anytime during the day, it could also be hazy as clouds would pass through. So if you are planning to go there, make sure to bring a light jacket.

The best part, frankly what I liked the most about Genting, is the Premium Outlets. There's so many notable brands like Coach, Burberry, Furla, and items for steal that it's hard not to get pulled in. My mom shopped 'til she dropped of course but thankfully I was able to contain myself. The first time around, at least. But right around the Christmas holidays, I went on a day trip just to shop the sales. It was all worth it!

Anyway, that's all for now. Pray, hope this pandemic would soon be over and we can all go back to our normal routines. Though I don't think things will ever go back to the old normal anyway. But I only hope to go back to Macau and see my family as soon as this is all over.

For now, I'll just reminisce.
